MEET THE OWNER + MAKER
KRISTEN BROWN
Hi I’m Kristen, welcome to Artifacts & Amulets. I’ve been a maker pretty much my entire life. From drawing horses and making modeling clay figures, to throwing pottery and painting batiks in high school. If I am not doing something with my hands it makes me crazy.
My love affair with silver was born my freshman year of college. As a homesick 18 year old, 2,000 miles away from my family, I was pretty lost. My advisor suggested I take a fun class so I did. That fun class was Native American arts and crafts. We studied every type of Native American art and craft, from pottery and weaving to pine needle basketing making (yes I can claim I studied basket making in college) and finally the last project we did was silversmithing. When I took that blank sheet of metal and was able to form it into a wearable object, I was hooked. Over the years, I have practiced all forms of jewelry making from wire wrapping and bead stringing, to working as a fulltime production jeweler setting diamonds in engagement rings and repairing heirloom pieces; but traditional western style silver work has always held my heart.

ARTIFACTS
Artifacts are objects made by human hands. They frame the way we act in the world, as well as the way we think about the world.
AMULETS
